| The Webtrafix
server system allows you total functionality with your mail functions.
To set-up any mail function you need to have a user created. Follow
the directions for creating a user in the Site
Admin How To . Below you will find some questions most will ask
with their corresponding answers. Most of these features are added
when creating the user or by clicking on the Blue Envelope Icon next
to the user in Site Management.
Common
Info:
POP3
Server = yourdomain.com
SMTP Server (Outgoing Mail Server) = yourdomain.com
I
need to set-up a plain old POP e-mail account:
Just
create a user. You do not have to use all the functions that come
with setting up a user. The e-mail address will be username@yourdomain.com
I
want to have sales@mydomain.com, but it tells me that username is
taken:
Usernames
are server wide and once one site uses it, it can not be used on
another site. Most of the sales and info type usernames will be
taken do to their popularity. You can still have the e-mail address
sales@yourdomain.com. Just create a user with a unique username.
In the aliases section you may add (one per line) sales, info, etc.
and sales@yourdomain.com will forward to the e-mail account of that
user.
I
don't want to have to check multiple e-mail accounts. Can I have
mail forwarded to my e-mail account with my ISP? (Forwarding Accounts)
Sure
. As always create a user. Then go the the mail options (Blue Envelope
Icon) and enter your e-mail address in the forward section. To take
this one set further say you have a user set-up with all those aliases
as described above. You can still have the aliases even if you forward
mail from that user. (NO need to create separate users.) Look below
on how to forward mail to more than one e-mail address.
I
need to set-up a catch-all address so that any e-mail sent to my
domain will be put into my mail box.
In
your aliases box make an entry like so @www.yourdomain.com This
should do it, but as always run a test to be sure.
I
need to set-up an auto-responder:
In
the user's mail settings (Blue Envelop Icon) select vacation responder
and put the message in the box. Even though it is a small box it
will fit any size message.
I
need to forward e-mail to more than one e-mail address:
This
one is a bit more complex. In the users directory (ie. /users/username)
create a file called ".forward" (without quotes). In that
file add the e-mail addresses you want that users mail to forward
to in the following format:
email@doamin1.com,email@domain2.com
Then go into
the users mail setting in Siteadmin and select save changes. (Remeber
to do this or else it will not work!)
